Rob Anderson, B.C. pro of the year, teaches the basics to Joni Krats

Warming up: With five minutes and a golf club, golfers can increase range of motion and make playing more comfortable.

The grip: Placing the club correctly in the palm ensures that the grip makes maximum contact with the golfer’s hand.

Visual demo: Anderson illustrated each of the new concepts with a demonstration.

Adjusting: Anderson ensured that I did not unweight my back foot during the backswing.

Further adjustments: Once Anderson got my stance corrected, he demonstrated what a better backswing should feel like.

Hitting the ball: I hit only six balls during the lesson—but with satisfying results.
